After holding surprise Beau Is Afraid screenings on April Fools Day, A24 has released another trailer for Hereditary and Midsommar director Ari Aster's third feature film.

From the looks of it, Beau Is Afraid is the story of Beau (Joaquin Phoenix) going to visit his mother (Patti LuPone). Simple, right? Wrong! Based on the trailer, Beau will have to navigate street fights, growling beasts, people with papier-mâché heads, and more surreal strangeness. Plus, there's the very comforting question that his therapist (Stephen McKinley Henderson) poses: "Do you ever wish that she was dead?"

After this teaser, I am just as afraid as Beau.

Beau Is Afraid hits theaters April 21.
