How we find our deals (and save you money)

OUR DEALS COVERAGE EXPLAINED

You shouldn’t pay full price. We never do. We’re obsessed with finding great deals and helping you stretch your money just a little bit further.

WHO WE ARE

We are a dedicated team of deal-hunters and product-testers who get a thrill out of finding gadgets and gear at deep discounts. We like to think of ourselves as shopping watchdogs: We tirelessly scan the websites of your favorite online stores, track the latest trends, and have more pricing alerts set up than any one person should.

WHY YOU SHOULD TRUST US

The average person doesn’t have the time to do the kind of extensive research required to stay on top of daily price fluctuations and historical deal data. But we do — it’s literally our job. We live and breathe internet trends at Mashable and that applies to our approach to shopping coverage as well. We utilize audience statistics and pay attention to the latest social media fads and search data to inform where we focus our energy. We’ve been tracking trends for years and can tell you why a deal is — or isn’t — worth acting on. We’re motivated by one simple desire: To help our readers sort through all the noise so they can spend their time on literally anything else. Finding something on sale at an all-time low gives us a little thrill — and sharing that information with you gives us an even bigger one.

Though clicking on one of our links often generates revenue for Mashable, this is never a consideration when choosing which deals to cover. Our deals team does not write sponsored content and posts are not paid for. Sponsored stories are handled by a separate team and clearly disclosed. The central tenets of journalism ethics (objectivity, accuracy, and independent coverage) are at the core of everything we write.

HOW WE FIND YOU DEALS (AND SAVE YOU MONEY)

Each day, we study online retailer sites and use analytics tools to track pricing history, but these methods aren’t always 100% dependable. We rely on our vast deals knowledge to manually track prices, too. We are subject matter experts and can tell you when a product has dropped to its lowest price ever, or if a merchant’s “original” price is inflated to make something look like an intense discount when it’s not. Our reporters and editors have deep relationships in the consumer tech, entertainment, and e-commerce worlds, and they frequently tap into industry contacts to inform their deals coverage. These relationships often give us a first look at products and sales, which we eagerly share with our readers as soon as things go live.

Holistically tracking deals is at the heart of everything we do. A deal can be worth your money even if it’s not the lowest price we’ve ever seen. We pay attention to things like free shipping, coupons, product availability, and value for your money. Because the same team of folks who test and review products is also the one hunting for deals, we’re able to utilize our extensive knowledge about what makes a product great when assessing the true worthiness of a sale. We can tell you if a product is from a reputable brand, if similar products on the market are a better bang for your buck, and whether a product that looks great on paper performed well IRL.

You can think of our reporters and editors as your trusty, shopping-obsessed friend group. We’ll only recommend products and deals that are actually worth your time and money — we’re here to help you.
