This emotional ad for 'The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom' is going viral

Well that's a different kind of game commercial.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the anticipated sequel to 2017's Breath of the Wild, has a new commercial out through Nintendo, and this one is less about mesmerising game footage and more about trying to make you well up.

In the clip above, a sad businessman travels to work and looks generally miserable with his life until he digs out a copy of Tears of the Kingdom and begins to play on a Nintendo Switch. Soon he's constructing log rafts and zooming around Hyrule without a care in the world, which in turn leads to him appreciating more of the beauty in his own life. The commercial is apparently based on an Amazon review of Breath of the Wild, per Kotaku(opens in a new tab).

Looks like the famously tear-inducing John Lewis Christmas ads have some new competition.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is set for release on Friday, May 12, and here's where you can preorder the game.
