The Blackening looks absolutely hilarious.

A spoof of the horror genre and its treatment of Black characters, The Blackening follows a group of friends on a Juneteenth weekend getaway where things quickly go south thanks to a surprise guest. The group find themselves stuck playing a twisted game hosted by a mysterious killer — à la Jigsaw from Saw — and it's surprisingly funny. Taking aim at horror tropes, namely, Black characters always dying first, The Blackening relishes in laughter and screams as its lead characters fight for their survival with weapons and iconic one-liners. Based on the reactions of preview audiences shown in the trailer, The Blackening already seems like a must-see.

The Blackening releases in theaters on June 16.
