A cult leader and an up-and-coming pop star are the two main characters in Euphoria creator Sam Levinson's new HBO series The Idol. It's been co-created by Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd), who also stars alongside Lily-Rose Depp and Troye Sivan — and if all that sounds like a lot to take in, just wait until you see the teaser.

Details are still a little thin at this stage, but the tagline is "the sleaziest love story in all of Hollywood," and based on the 93-second teaser it looks like the sex-and-drug-levels will be at least on a par with those of Euphoria.

The Idol is "coming soon" to HBO Max.
